ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Retired California Highway Patrol (CHP) Lieutenant Steve Davis served with the Department for thirty two years in a myriad of assignments.  He began working the streets as a Traffic Officer in Riverside, San Bernardino, and Eureka.  After a tour in CHP Headquarters, he was assigned as a Field Sergeant in Stockton.

Upon promotion to Lieutenant, he served as Commander of the Oakland Communications Center, then served in Administrative positions at CHP Headquarters and an eighteen month Special Assignment at the U. S. Department of Transportation, assigned to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Federal Highways Administration (FHWA).  Upon his return to California, he served as Executive Officer in Fairfield, and Field Operations Lieutenant in Stockton.

His last assignment, as Commander of the Clear Lake CHP Area, and seven years experience as Team Leader of the CHP's Northern Division Shooting Investigation Team, provided powerful insight into the drama and intrigue that led to these fictionalized stories.

He and his wife Elizabeth are currently enjoying retirement in Prescott Valley, AZ.
