ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Retired California Highway Patrol (CHP) Lieutenant Steve Davis
served with the CHP for thirty two years in a myriad of assignments.
He began working the streets as a Traffic Officer in Riverside, San
Bernardino, and Eureka. After a tour in CHP Headquarters, he was
assigned as a Field Sergeant in Stockton.
Upon promotion to
Lieutenant, he served as Commander of the Oakland Communications Center,
then served in Administrative positions at CHP Headquarters and an
eighteen month Special Assignment at the U. S. Department of
Transportation, assigned to the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration (NHTSA) and Federal Highways Administration (FHWA).
Upon his return to California, he served as Executive Officer in
Fairfield, and Field
Operations Lieutenant in Stockton.
His last assignment, as Commander of the
Clear Lake Area, and seven years experience as Team Leader of the CHP”s
Northern Division Shooting Investigation Team, provided powerful
insight into the drama and intrigue that led to this fictionalized
story.
He and his wife Elizabeth
are currently enjoying retirement in Prescott Valley, AZ.
